This website is a tribute to a present, but historic highway system known as U.S. Route 6. As it travels
historically from Long Beach, CA to Provincetown, MA (all 3,652 miles and 14 states). This page is not
finished by any bit, and there will be a lot more pictures added very soon.
These pictures are of the place that we work from. The upper left, shows Highway 6 & 34 looking west (about one block east of Highway
283). Our building is on the middle right. The picture on the right is a closer picture of it. The building just left of the main building, is the
Derby Cafe. A note found on top of one of these pictures says they are from 1948. We have been told that the Service Station was of a
Derby brand.
Lastly, the bottom is the current building site, with a new Derby Cafe to the left of our building. Note: they are no longer connected and there
is a parking area in between. Probably land was bought, and there wasn't much space for parking in front of the old cafe.

About a half of a block west of our business (and south
of highway 6). You will find this Sinclair Station, which
is now Melvin Kennicutt's Welding Shop. The building
to the far right is a cafe.
These buildings still sit where they were. The roof over
the pumps have now been enclosed, and the Cafe still
says it on the front. Look close and you will see it.
This was a very nice building for its time.
Arapahoe probably had 7 gas stations along Route 6 at
one time (most about a block a part). Today there is
two, (K Store and Ag Valley Co op).
