From time to time, we are asked different questions, and we hope that we are able to answer some of these for you.
Q. What kind of a graphic business do you do? A. Our business is made up of a lot of different types of businesses that use computers to help generate our work. Below our name you will see "Graphic Image Artwork & Designs". To us that means that we can turn your images into something that is a piece of art. You can see some of this by going to our Design Work page. As we are completely custom to our what our customer needs. That is what sets us a part. We often work from designs that our customer makes. Because it is too expensive to do this type of work for many, we offer our business to do it for you.
Q. What kind of images can you use? A. We can only use images that you take or that we take. Do not send us professionally made photographs. Many take pictures and then add a copyright to them. This makes it impossible for us to use, so we will not use a professionally made picture. However, we will use any picture that you have taken by yourself. Whether it be a digital, a snapshot picture, a slide or sometimes from a home-made movie, we can make something from it. We prefer using .jpeg's instead of TIFF's for a format, and the reason is the size of the file. All snapshot's sent to us will be transferred into a .jpeg.
Q. What do you use to create your items? A. For pictures and many different items we use a process of sublimation. This includes our work on Coffee mugs, t-shirts, puzzles, statuettes, mouse pads and so on.
Q. What is Sublimation? A. Sublimation is a process of using a dye-ink to create a permanent product Sublimation ink is a special type of ink that is a solid and then turned into a gas at high temperatures. So when using Sublimation inks, one must use something that is synthetic or able to accept this ink, as in a special coating. For fabrics, it is a synthetic material that will allow the fabric pores to open up in high heat. The ink is allowed to penetrate into the pores, and then these pores close when it begins to cool. The coloring is then trapped into the material. You cannot feel the design and it will not wear out. It's all inside the fabric. Just like on other material that uses a special coating process. The sublimation ink penetrates the coating and is trapped underneath the coating. It will not washed out and is not damaged by heating or by scratching it off. A great example of how sublimation works as a gas, is when we make a puzzle. The puzzle has a special coating on it and is white. The design (with ink on the paper) is tightly covered around the puzzle. Under high heat and pressure, the ink that was solid turns into a gas and begins to penetrate the puzzle pieces. Even between the cracks of each piece, the color is soaked into them. This leaves a puzzle that looks just like one that you would buy in a store. But it is your picture or your design.
Q. What other types of work do you do? A. We also work in vinyl graphics and in video and audio transfers. We also transfer photo's and 35mm slides into a digital format.
Q. Is there anything that you will not do with images? A. Yes, we will not do any type of reprints of your photos. The reason is because of the cost to do it and what usually happens on a reprint. A reprint is a copy of an original and everyone thinks that the copy will look like the first. That isn't always so, and usually there is a coloring difference. The price of ink is getting out of control, so it isn't cheap for us to do it. Why offer something that will not give our customers a good deal?
Q. How long does it take to get our items out to our customers? A. All of our work is 100% custom, so it depends on design time and other variables. It should be expected that items may take 4 - 6 weeks before items are done. It all depends on the complexity of the job. This is a small business, and that means a very small employment of one. I am lucky to have family members that help me out when times are needed. That's where the "we" part comes from.
Q. How long should I wait before getting in contact with you on an event or for products needed for an event to get them done in time? A. We need to start on getting an idea on things as soon as a person or a committee can. So if possible, a design and what will be needed to be done will be four weeks in advance of your event. This comes from experience that everyone waits until the week before the event happens. If we have a break down or need to order things, they will get here in time. We never have a break down until it is a hurry up project. Check out our Policies page where it is explained a little better.
Q. How should we expect to pay? A. We require full payment in advance of work being done. The reason is how our suppliers are requiring businesses to pay for items bought first. No longer can a business afford to do the work and then await payment. So we have to do the opposite of the old times, and pay for your supplies first also. Many forget this, and that is why we haven't started on their products yet. We are custom and that makes us a specialty shop. We only except cash, check or money order. Sorry, no credit cards at this time.
Q. What is your refund policy? A. Because we work in a custom business and most of our work is personalized, there isn't any refunds. We suggest making sure that all work is the way that you want it. We will not begin any work until your approval is given. That is also when we expect payment to do things. If there is a need to quit this project, then now is the time to do it. When it is finished, then it is too late to do anything about something being wrong about it. So that is why we don't give back any refunds. It has to suit you first!
Q. Can a customer send in their own graphic to be printed? A. Yes, if you are an artist or have a graphic that you have designed. We would be happy to add that to one of our products for you. We believe that everyone has talents, but many don't have a way to do things with them. Just contact us and we will work with you on something. Updated Attention: We will not be held responsible for items that are not created by us on how they turn out or by the coloring of it. Many items are not sent in the correct format and sometimes sublimation coloring is different. Although we try the best to reproduce your work, we cannot guarantee that it will be 100%. Only items that we design and color will be 100% correct. Please do not send us graphics made by someone else to have us change the coloring of it. If the graphic is locked, you must have the original artist change the colors.
Q. Can I use my own shirts, sweatshirt, caps or jackets to be embroidered? A. It is not recommended to bring in your own items to be embroidered. But there are times when this has to happen. The reason is that you only get one shot to get it done correct. If we now what you want, then we can order to make sure that there is enough extras for a mistake. Yes, we have made mistakes and they are costly! If you bring in your own item, please make sure it isn't one of a kind, and have an extra ready just in case. Our Policy is that we are not responsible if you bring in your own items to have embroidered. We will also not pay for the mistakes that may happen when you bring in your own item to be embroidered.
These are just a few and if you don't see your question here. Please contact us.
